Boy, 2, bitten in face by dog in west Modesto
A 2-year-old boy suffered injuries to his face when he was bitten by a dog Friday afternoon.
The boy was playing in the driveway of his Figaro Avenue home in west Modesto at about 5 p.m. when the incident occurred.
A man walked across the street to the house and was followed by the dog – a 75-pound female pit bull mix.
There are conflicting stories about what happened next, whether the boy jumped on the dog’s back or the man’s back – but the dog bit the boy in the face.
The boy had lacerations under his left eye and on his jaw. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The dog was taken by animal control for a 10-day quarantine. It was not licensed or up to date on its rabies vaccines.
