Calaveras County vegetation fires nearing containment

A Stanislaus County trike team that was sent to a vegetation fire in Calaveras County on Tuesday returned home Wednesday.

Engines from Modesto Fire Department, Burbank-Paradise Fire Protection District, Salida Fire Department and three engines from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District helped battle the Pacheco fire near Valley Springs. The fire was 341 acres and 20 percent contained as of Wednesday afternoon.

The strike team originally was dispatched to a second vegetation fire in Calaveras County near Copperopolis but was rerouted to the Pacheco fire.

The fire in Copperopolis called the Stagecoach fire destroyed a two-story structure but was kept to 35 acres and was 75 percent contained Wednesday.
