Cheryl Harless is the new chief nursing officer at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. She began her career at the hospital as a nurse in 1997, later becoming the director of patient care services. She went on to become the chief nursing executive at Novato Community Hospital in Novato before holding the same title at Sutter Health’s Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
Harless earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills, a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Pittsburgh.
Modesto 500 Lions Club seats new officers
The Modesto 500 Lions Club recently installed its new slate of officers for the 2016-17 year. They include: Robin Brown, president; Bill Spearing, first vice president; Ricki Condor, second vice president; Carolyn Gomes, secretary; Pat Dimond, treasurer; Anil Halappa and Craig Kellogg, Lion Tamers; Bill Ames and John Peltier, Tail Twisters; Sue Carner, Pat Gillum, John Peltier and Jim Syvertson, directors; Claudia Miller, membership; and Arral Phipps, immediate past president. Sue Carner earned the Lion of the Year award.

The Modesto 500 Lions Club supports local agencies such as Baptist Temple Church Ministry, Boys & Girls Clubs, Children’s Crisis Center, Jessica’s House, Flying Samaritans, Stanislaus Family Justice Center, Medic-Alert, Salvation Army, Without Permission and the VIPS Center. The organization invites anyone interested in learning more about the Lions to attend its meetings, which begin at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at Michael’s Pizza on Carpenter Road or the third Thursday at noon at Seasons on McHenry.
