A woman suffered minor injuries after jumping from the Whitmore Avenue overpass onto the shoulder of northbound Highway 99 on Sunday morning.
About 11:30 a.m., Ceres police were first to respond to a report of a possible suicide attempt at the overpass. As an officer arrived on scene, the woman saw the vehicle and jumped, said Ceres Fire Department Battalion Chief John Gomes.
The woman fell roughly 20 to 25 feet and landed on the shoulder, Gomes said. She was not struck by any vehicles and was conscious and alert when talking with responders.
The woman appears to be in her late 30s to 40-ish, he said, and did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
