What: Bike Crawl fundraiser

When: Saturday, 3 p.m.

Where: Roosevelt Park

Info: Nurture in Nature, a local nonprofit group, will host its Bike Crawl fundraiser Saturday at Roosevelt Park in Modesto. Money from the event will help pay to take children ages five through 13 with disabilities and their caregivers to the mountains for four day at Camp Tuolumne Trails near Groveland. The camp is free for the child and support person, and includes lodging, meals and various activities. The fundraiser begins at 3 p.m. Each stop along the route includes one beverage and light appetizers. What: Neuropathy Support Group

When: Monday, 10:30 a.m.

Where: Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Rooms 502/503, 1600 Carver Road

Info: Kim Viviano of Healthy Aging will review fall prevention techniques and lead exercises. Van Potterton of CareMore Health plan will be in attendance to answer questions. The group will not meet in July and August. For more information, call 209-634-4373.

OAKDALE

What: Oakdale Garden Club’s Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Salad Bar Luncheon, Plant Sale & Silent Auction

When: Tuesday, doors open at 11 a.m.

Where: Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second St.

Info: The main purpose of this annually held event is to provide funds for scholarships to be awarded to high school graduates who plan to pursue a career in horticultural-related fields. The fresh salads served at the luncheon, as well as the table decorations, the plants for sale, and the many gift baskets raffled off, are all donated by Club members. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: Turlock High School Board of Trustees, at a special meeting, announced approval for the construction of a new agricultural building, estimated to cost $30,000. The new building would have replaced an older “inadequate” structures that housed the class for the Future Farmers. Board president W.W. Ferguson had called the meeting to adopt the 1941-42 tentative budget and discuss a three-year building program.
