YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: The Modesto City Council was able to save four police positions and add $75,000 to its reserve. The announcement was made after the council had considered cost-cutting measures from its proposed $63 million budget. The bulk of the savings came from restructuring a 9-year-old single-family mortgage revenue bond, a savings of $100,000.
