Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club members were out Friday at Garrison Park as part of a club project to spruce up the city park near Orangeburg Avenue and Carver Road. The club adopted the park about a year ago and has conducted regular cleanups. This project includes replacing the sand and gravel around the toddler’s climbing rock with rubberized bark and replacing two dilapidated benches and vandalized playground equipment. Club President Chris Currie said the club is covering the cost of the project and working with the city. He said the club is talking with the city about its next project: replacing the worn-out park sign next year.
