Modesto Highland Games celebrate Celtic culture
A hot, muggy day couldn’t dampen enthusiasm for participants in the 35th annual Modesto Scottish Highland Games & Celtic Festival on Saturday.
Presented by Modesto St. Andrew’s Society at Tuolumne River Regional Park, the family festival celebrated all things Celtic and included athletic events, rugby, bagpipers, music, children’s games and food.
Cabers were tossed, swords (the Nerf kind) clashed, and even a giant Jenga game was played. Scottish, Irish, Cornish, Norwegian and Welsh cultures were celebrated.
