YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: The names of the men’s and women’s champions, along with low gross and flight winners, were announced at the 11th Modesto City Golf Championship by tournament directors Charles Throssell and Gen Leluch. The two overall champions were Ruben Solario and Daisy McCoy, and they were presented with sterling silver tea sets at the victory dinner that was held at Carmen’s Restaurant. The tournament was also sponsored by The Modesto Bee, KBEE radio and KOVR-TV.
