YESTERYEARS
75 YEARS AGO: It was reported that sheriff’s Deputy John B. Moorehead had been called to investigate a fire on a lot on Faustina Avenue in Modesto. Upon arrival, he found a group of young boys had set fire to a thick grass patch on their baseball diamond. But finding that no building was in danger, he felt sympathetic because he had been an outfielder in his youth.
