What: Third annual child safety seat check
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon
Where: Los Amigos Tire Pros, 1700 Crows Landing Road
Info: No appointments needed. Organizers said attendees will not be asked for their driver’s licenses or identification. People must arrive in a vehicle with a child safety seat. Technicians will inspect seats and educate parents on proper installation.
What: Summer art camps
When: Starting June 13
Where: Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J. St.

Info: Fundraiser for Livingston-Delhi VFW Post 8327. Prices range from $3.50 to $4.50 for sandwiches. Chili available for $2.

YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the City of Modesto would withdraw from Social Security as part of a three-year wage contract with miscellaneous employees. The action paved the way for a 6 percent wage increase. The Modesto City Employees Association, representing workers other than police and fire, felt the amount of money being saved could be used in other ways to improve retirement benefits.
