What: Tuolumne River cleanup
When: Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Meet at the open field across from the Army National Guard between the SOS Club and John Thurman Field on the north bank of the river.
Info: The 9-2-99 cleanup moves into the water as this month’s effort focuses on both the banks of the Tuolumne River and the river itself. Volunteers that are going to be in-river or on a watercraft of any type, the requirements are 18 and older unless accompanied by an adult guardian. Participants must sign a waiver with Tuolumne River Trust, and must wear a life jacket. For more information, go online to http://tinyurl.com/operation9-2-99.
What: Us Too Prostate Cancer Support Group
When: Monday, 4:30 p.m.
Where: Private residence in Oakdale

100 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Theater presented a seven-reel movie titled “Peggy.” It starred Billy Burke and admission was 15 cents for adults and 5 cents for children.
