What: Kiwanis breakfast fundraiser
When: Sunday, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Where: The Seasons, 945 McHenry Ave.
Info: Kiwanis’ 63rd annual breakfast. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children and are available at the door. Funds raised go toward community programs such as scholarships, shopping tours and Key Clubs.
What: Senior meals
When: Monday through Friday, site open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; meals served at 11:30 a.m.
Where: Witner Hall/Howard Training Center, 1424 Stonum Road
Info: Open to anyone 60 years or older. Program also includes games, music, jigsaw puzzles and trivia games. To reserve a meal, call at least 24 hours in advance, 209-303-0704.
PATTERSON
What: Dog adoptions
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Best Friends Pet Resort, 2631 Olive Ave.

YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that McClatchy Newspapers would be honored at a ceremony in Los Angeles, by the California Heart Association. The Bee newspapers were to be given the 1966 Communications Award, which was presented to one group each year. The McClatchy papers were selected for their articles entitled “Take Heart,” a 26-week series on the aspects of heart disease, which was published by the Modesto, Sacramento and Fresno papers.
