YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that residents in Tuolumne County, excluding Sonora and East Sonora because they already had addresses, would be getting addresses with street names to make it easier to locate homes and businesses. The addresses would exclude north, south, east and west because the signs would be too long and would have anywhere from three- to five-digit numbers followed by the name of the street. This was decided by a citizens committee appointed by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors.
