The speaker will be Eric Bauman, vice chairman of the California Democratic Party. The master of ceremonies will be former Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh. 40 YEARS AGO: Sylvan Union Elementary District trustees voted to put on hold plans to readjust district boundaries. The decision came after an hours’ worth of discussion on the topic to a packed, standing room only crowd, of angry district parents. If the changes had been done, the decision would have affected about 140 students in kindergarten through sixth grade in September.
