YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the city of Ceres would be allowed to annex land into its boundary by the Stanislaus County Local Agency Formation Commission. However, rather than the 1,059 acres requested by the city, LAFCO granted only 240 acres, which was far less than what the commission staff’s recommendation of 600 acres. Ceres’ new boundary would extend to north of Whitmore Avenue, east to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and south to Hackett Road.
