Boy, 3, falls from two-story window at Ceres home
A 3-year-old boy was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Sunday afternoon after falling from a second-story window at his home.
Ivan Ramirez said his cousin Alexis was playing upstairs when he leaned against a window screen, it popped out and he fell. Below him were a faucet and coiled garden hose, with a shrub on one side and the duplex’s concrete driveway on the other.
Apparently, the child landed mostly on the hose. Alexis was conscious but drowsy and said his head hurt, Ramirez said. “He was moaning.”
A man sitting outside next door witnessed the fall and ran to the child’s aid. Jose Maravilla, who was visiting his daughter, said he picked up Alexis, who was crying but moving his legs, indicating there was no paralysis.
“My God, my heart was (makes a pounding motion on his chest),” Maravilla said. “I hope everything (will) be OK.”
The fall occurred about 1:30 p.m. on Glen Ridge Drive at the corner of Glen Meadow Court, east of Smyrna Park. Ramirez said the family called 911, and an ambulance, firefighters and police responded. The child and his parents were taken to the Modesto Airport, about 2.5 miles north, and from there Alexis was flown to Sacramento.
Information on his condition was not immediately available.
