Teen badly beaten outside Crows Landing Road store in Modesto

A 19-year-old male was rushed into surgery Saturday afternoon for bleeding in the brain after being beaten by several people outside a shop on Crows Landing Road, police said.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. outside the Stop & Shop liquor store at 1914 Crows Landing, said Modesto police Lt. Terry Seese. Witnesses reported that subjects assaulting the victim were making gang-related comments, Seese said. The victim’s phone also was stolen.

The victim was in critical but stable condition Sunday, the lieutenant said.
