Crash kills driver on Briggsmore in Modesto

A 23-year-old Latino male was killed in a single-vehicle car crash early Sunday in Modesto.

The driver, whose identity was unavailable Sunday afternoon, was westbound on Briggsmore Avenue west of Carver Road when he lost control of his vehicle, struck the center divide and was ejected, said Modesto police Lt. Terry Seese. The crash occurred roughly around 3 a.m.

Though the investigation is in the preliminary stage, alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, Seese said.
