Modesto Junior College Class of 2016 walks stage

Graduation season kicked off Friday when hundreds of students at Modesto Junior College walked in the school’s 94th commencement ceremony.

Roughly 600 graduates were expected to take part; this year’s graduating class numbered 1,300. Another 300 students earned certificates of achievement.

The graduation program featured the presentation of the 2016 MJC Distinguished Alumni Award to John Scheuber, MJC professor emeritus of agriculture (1968-1993) and businessman.

Scheuber was president and CEO of Veterinary Service Inc. and remains on its board.
