Modesto families needed to host French students in August
Seven Modesto families still are needed to host French students in August. Horizons Du Monde is bringing the students, mainly from Paris, to the area to experience local culture.
About 15 students, ages 15 to 18, will visit Aug. 2-23.
“The ideal host families are involved in the community and have children around the ages of the international students,” said local Horizons coordinator Yvette Wungluck via email. “However, host families are not required to have children.”
The mandatory requirements are that families house and feed the students, including providing each youth his or her own bed. Host families are not paid.
“As a local coordinator for the program, I will conduct activities twice a week with the students,” Wungluck said. “The students will spend the rest of the time with their host families, as the main focus of the program is for students to experience an American family while perfecting their English.”
All students have studied English for at least three years. Most are proficient but would like to improve, as well as experience American culture firsthand.
Anyone interested in hosting a student should contact Wungluck at 209-614-9045 or yvette.wungluck@gmail.com.
