What: League of Women Voters Lunch and Learn Program

Where: Ridgeway’s, Century Center, 2401 E. Orangeburg Ave.

Info: Joel Andrews, Patterson’s city planner, will speak on “Patterson Planning: How a Small City is Coping With Big Change.” He will address such matters as the impact of Amazon and other large businesses moving to town, the development of new subdivisions and infrastructure, and the upcoming decision by StanCog on the location of the future Southern Expressway connection between Interstate 5 and Highway 99. The luncheon (chef’s choice) is open to the public. The cost is $13 and reservations are not required. For more information, call the League office at 209-524-1698.

75 YEARS AGO: The Ripon Grange presented a resolution protesting the activities of special-interest lobbyists at the state Capitol. The group approved a bill by Assemblyman Hugh P. Donnelly of Turlock that was designed to control paid lobbyist activities.
