YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: The governor of California, Culbert Olson, would be visiting Modesto for the weekend. On his agenda was a dinner meeting that Saturday with the Council of American Brotherhood, which was a group seeking to unite Protestant, Catholic and Jewish worshippers against atheism. He would also speak on the topic of state and national defense, and music for the evening would be provided by professor Frank Mancini. Olson would then spend Sunday at the annual Mulligan Day festivities hosted by the Old Fisherman’s Club.
