Fire damages single-story duplex in Empire

A fire severely damaged a single-story duplex in Empire on Wednesday night.

There were no intial reports of injury.

Crews from the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District and the Modesto Fire Department were called to the property on H Street on a report of a residential structure fire.

When they arrived, they found a “well-involved” single-story duplex in flames. It was not immediately known if there were people living there.

Crews contained the fire and went inside, where a primary search of the residence was conducted with “negative results,” according to Stanislaus Consolidated’s Facebook page.

There was no immediate information about the cause of the fire.
