What: Healthy Aging Association free balance program

When: Mondays starting April 4, 10 a.m. to noon

Where: United Samaritans Foundation, 220 S. Broadway

Info: For adults age 60 and up. Do you have concerns about falling or know someone who does? The Healthy Aging Association has opened free registrations for its award-winning program “A Matter Of Balance,” designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. Classes are held once a week for eight weeks for two hours each. Registration is free. For more information or to sign up, call Kim Viviano, program manager, at 209-523-2800.


What: Turlock Garden Club’s fourth annual Spring Garden Tour

When: April 23, 9 a.m to 2 p.m.

Where: Turlock and Hilmar – seven gardens and a surprise

75 YEARS AGO: W. Coburn Cook, secretary of the 38th District Agricultural Association, announced that $30,000 was allocated by the state department of finance for the building fund of the Stanislaus District Fair and Horse Show. The $30,000 was to be allocated for building projects at the fair, such as additional water and sewer lines, fencing of the grounds and other improvements yet to be determined.
