YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Modesto city bus system would be adding two routes April 1. This was announced by the city’s traffic director, Douglas J. Carmody, and the fares would be free for the first week of operation. After that initial week, the fare price would be 25 cents, or 10 cents for seniors. Buses would leave the depot at 10th and J streets for the College Avenue and I Street routes.
