What: Honoring centenarians in Stanislaus County

Info: To celebrate Older Americans Month in May, the Healthy Aging Association is looking for people 100 years and older to celebrate their long lives. The centenarians will be recognized on May 6 at the Age With Movement Celebration at East La Loma Park, 2001 Edgebrook Drive in Modesto. If you know or can refer someone who should be recognized, call 209-523-2800 before March 30.
What: Training for new docent volunteers at the Great Valley Museum
When: April 11, 18 and 25; 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Where: Great Valley Museum, Modesto Junior College, West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave.

40 YEARS AGO: The state Department of Education set an April 19 deadline for Stanislaus County school administrators to resolve their differences over the fiscal control of the county’s master plan for special education. Don McKinley, chief deputy state superintendent of public instruction, stated that if the two sides could not resolve their issues, it could result in the state withdrawing the county from the state-aided program.
