Body found last month in Tuolumne River identified
A body found in the Tuolumne River last month was identified as a 40-year-old Modesto man, Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said Wednesday.
James Buslett’s body was discovered near the bank of the Tuolumne just north of the Carpenter Bridge around noon on Feb. 4.
Residents at a home in the 2300 block of West Hatch Road called law enforcement after they saw from their backyard deck what they thought was a man in about 2 feet of water.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department personnel, firefighters with the Burbank-Paradise Fire Protection District and paramedics arrived to find the body.
Bejaran said no foul play was suspected and it has now become a Stanislaus County Coroner’s case.
The detective in charge of the case for that office could not be reached on Thursday.
The case was initially investigated as a “suspicious death,” Lt. Mike Parker said last month.
