Modesto Gospel Mission plans annual fashion show
Tea, fashion and a good cause will combine on Saturday at a fundraiser for the Modesto Gospel Mission.
The mission partners with local boutiques for its annual Tea & Fashion Show. The event benefits the Women’s New Life Program, which prepares homeless people helped by the nonprofit group “return to society,” Katie Smith, development coordinator at the mission, said in an email.
“Through spiritual, emotional, social, educational and employment programs, we help break the cycle of homelessness and despair,” she said.
Women who are in the program will be models for the fashion show, giving them a chance to be “pampered for the day,” Smith said.
Money raised from the Tea & Fashion Show specifically will go toward a “women and children’s building that is a vital need for our community, and to keep the doors open to help any and all of the women and children who come to Modesto Gospel Mission for help,” Smith said.
Local businesses providing clothing include Christina’s Fine Women’s Clothing, Eve & Me, Envy Fine Clothing, Bella Rouge Mobile Boutique and Nonchalant Casual.
In addition, the show will feature a spring accessories boutique with items available for purchase and an auction, along with lunch, tea and dessert.
The annual event often sells out, according to organizers, but tickets were still available last week.
