100 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Theater announced its weekend movie and vaudeville shows, featuring Tokio Morato, Japanese master of equoipoise; Johnson and Connell, “The Swede and the Girl” (comedy singing and talking); and Hearn and Rutter, songs and grotesque eccentric dances. The entertainment also included five movie reels. Seating was 15 cents for the balcony and 25 cents for lower floor seats.
