Kiernan bridge lanes over Highway 99 to be closed Monday night
Between 9 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, work on the Kiernan Avenue/Highway 99 interchange reconstruction will require multiple lane closures.
The outside lanes of the Kiernan bridge over 99 will be closed in both directions to give space for construction crews to finish work on the bridge’s exterior. All traffic will be shifted to the inside lanes. Electronic and print signs will guide motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
The work is a key component in the completion of the third of four stages of interchange reconstruction, according to a news release Tuesday.
The project includes the following primary improvements:
▪ Replacing the existing bridge, as well as the onramps and offramps
▪ Constructing a new auxiliary lane in each direction on Highway 99 from Kiernan Avenue to Pelandale Avenue
▪ Adding a lane in each direction on Kiernan Avenue
▪ Providing improved operations for turning movements to and from Highway 99
▪ Making associated local road improvements at Sisk Road and Salida Boulevard
The interchange reconstruction project is expected to be done this summer.
