YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to stop the sale of most small lots created in rural areas before Jan. 1, 1971. The board also called for a public hearing directed at outlawing formal subdivisions in exclusively agricultural zones only. If the ban was created, it would have prohibited developers from splitting a farm into more than four smaller farms.
