Modesto children were allowed to do more than just pet the subjects in this petting zoo – they were encouraged to play with them, too. Youngsters in the Vintage Faire Mall Kids Club got an up-close and personal look at classical instruments as part of the Modesto Symphony Orchestra’s Instrument Petting Zoo on Thursday. The mall’s Kids Club is a collaboration between Vintage Faire, the Stanislaus County Library’s storytime program and the National Geographic Society. The symphony orchestra has an ongoing traveling Instrument Petting Zoo program throughout the year with the library and area schools. Another free symphony Instrument Petting Zoo featuring the brass family is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Monday at the Modesto branch of the library.
