Woman identified in fatal Hughson crash

The woman who died when her car crashed into a walnut tree Wednesday night was identified Thursday as 26-year-old Patsy Campos.

The accident occurred on East Hatch Road east of Seventh Street at about 7 p.m.

Campos, a Hughson resident and the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was driving her Honda Accord west when for unknown reasons it turned suddenly to the right and began rotating in a clockwise direction, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Honda left the road and hit two large walnut trees.

The vehicle appeared to have wrapped itself around one of the trees.

Emergency crews had to use a ladder and other equipment to access the interior of the vehicle from the passenger side, which was off the ground.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to CHP.

East Hatch Road was shut down between Seventh Street and Euclid Avenue while officers investigated.
