YESTERYEARS
75 YEARS AGO: Hormel Foods Co. was offering to pay Modesto residents for their opinions of Spam and Hormel Chili Con Carne. If they stopped a person on the street, in a place of business and/or in other social areas, the interviewee would need to have a label, an empty can and in the case of Spam the key or metal strip. Representatives would pay $1 for each opinion of that product. Anyone who had the evidence of consuming both products could get a $2 bill.
