26-year-old woman killed in Hughson accident on East Hatch Road

A woman died after the car she was driving went off the road and into a tree Wednesday night.

The accident occurred on East Hatch Road east of Seventh Street about 7 p.m.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the woman as Patsy Campos, 26, of Hughson.

Campos, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Campos was driving her Honda Accord west when for unknown reasons it turned suddenly to the right and began rotating in a clockwise direction, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Honda left the road and hit two large walnut trees.

The vehicle appeared to have wrapped itself around one of the trees.

Emergency crews had to use a ladder and other equipment to access the interior of the vehicle from the passenger side, which was off the ground.

East Hatch Road was shut down between Seventh Street and Euclid Avenue while officers investigated.
