50 YEARS AGO: The Stanislaus County Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of Supervisors turn down R.T. Cox’s application to use the rear of his property, on the north side of Greenway east of Lander Avenue, for a junkyard. The city of Turlock also recommended that the county deny his application, pointing out that the junkyard would not agree with the city’s general plan and the yard should be in an industrial area.
