Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck on Modesto’s McHenry Avenue
A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup crossing McHenry Avenue in front of a Target store.
The incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m. The driver, 21-year-old Ashley Florez, stayed at the scene.
Florez was driving south on McHenry when she hit the man, who was crossing from the east side of the road, said Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves. The incident occurred south of Standiford Avenue where there is no crosswalk.
The man suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
All southbound lanes of McHenry are closed while officers investigate.
