Man hit by train in Salida identified
A man who died Tuesday night when he was hit by a train was identified was identified as 34-year-old Robert Lemley, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office said Friday.
In an apparent suicide, Lemley stepped on the railroad tracks that run parallel to Highway 99 as a northbound Union Pacific train approached. He gave a salute just before he was hit.
Lemley died at the scene.
