Listen up, funk fans, we’re gonna tell you something good: Chaka Khan will perform at this year’s Stanislaus County Fair.

The Queen of Funk is a 10-time Grammy Award winner (with 22 nominations overall) whose hits with the band Rufus and as a solo artist include “Tell Me Something Good,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Ain’t Nobody” and “Through the Fire.” Her most recent Grammy came in 2002 with her cover of the Marvin Gaye hit “What’s Going On” with the Funk Brothers.

“Chaka Khan is a musical icon,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokeswoman for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The concert will be fierce, with a high-energy performance bringing all her loved songs.”

During her 40-year career, Khan has developed an international fan base and performed on six continents. Her work has spanned music genres including R&B, jazz, pop, rock, gospel, country, classical and dance. She has released 22 albums and racked up 10 No. 1 Billboard-charted songs.

Khan will perform at 8:30 p.m. July 13 on the Bud Light Variety Free Stage. The show is free with the price of fair admission.

The fair previously announced performances by country singer Dwight Yoakam on July 14 and country group Parmalee on July 12.

The fair opens July 8 for a 10-day run. Discounted admission tickets, unlimited-ride wristbands and the fair season pass will be on sale beginning April 30. For more information, go to www.stancofair.com.
