What: Davis High School Middle College Pathway (Spartans 101) informational meeting
When: Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Davis High School little theater, 1200 W. Rumble Road
Info: In Davis’ Middle College Pathway, students take Modesto Junior College classes at Davis during the school day to receive high school and college credits (UC and CSU approved). The classes will allow a student to graduate high school with more than one semester of college classes completed.
What: Whist card party
When: Monday, 1 p.m.
Where: St. Stanislaus Church hall, Seventh and K streets
Info: Card party is sponsored by the Society of St. Isabel. The cost is $3 to play. There also will be prizes, refreshments and a raffle. All are welcome. For more information, call Rose, 209-529-4933

YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the proposed Don Pedro Dam, a $100 million project, could end up on the cutting room floor. The reason: The Modesto and Turlock irrigation districts and the city of San Francisco were having issues on agreeing to the cost breakdown each partner would find feasible in order for work to begin.
