Man rescued from bank of Modesto’s Dry Creek
Modesto firefighters rescued a man from Dry Creek behind E&J Gallo Winery on Monday morning.
The man was discovered by Modesto Police Officers and Gallo security at about 11:15 a.m., down an embankment near the water on the side of the creek closest to Gallo.
When firefighters got to the man he was breathing and had a pulse but could not speak, said Modesto Fire Department Division Chief Mike Lillie.
“We are not sure if he fell or if he had been down there and maybe because of the weather, because of the cold, is having some sort of medical issue from that,” he said.
The embankment was steep and wet so firefighters used a a metal basket secured to a ladder to get the man up the hill.
The man was taken to Doctor’s Medical Center for treatment. His name, age and condition were not available.
Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District assisted with the rescue, which took about 30 minutes.
