Woman suffers injuries after she’s struck by vehicle in Modesto
A woman suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle late Wednesday night in east Modesto.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was walking across Yosemite Boulevard just before 10 p.m. when she was hit by a sedan heading west on Yosemite just south of La Loma Avenue.
Lt. Craig Breckenridge of the Modesto Police Department said the woman was conscious but he believed she may have suffered broken bones. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The woman was believed to have been in or near a marked crosswalk.
Breckenridge said the initial investigation shows the woman might have been under the influence of alcohol, although it’s an ongoing investigation and there’s been no determination of fault.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police.
