Info: The city of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department conducts adult water exercise classes. Water exercise is ideal for people who don’t like the wear and tear of high-impact activities but still want a good workout. Classes are held at a heated indoor pool on Monday and Wednesday evenings and are suitable for all ages 18 and up. YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: After 48 years in the typewriter repair business, Bill Boulton, 65, retired from Lucas Business Services. Known to his colleagues as “Mr. Bill,” Boulton cleaned and fixed typewriters, adding machines and early calculators. Boulton worked for the same company for 48 years and outlasted three owners, three wars and 37 coffee pots. His career was briefly interrupted at the age of 16 in 1942 when he joined the Navy.
