Info: Nearly 600 tags that have been taken from the Soroptimists Christmas Tree, each representing a needy child, have not been returned, representatives say.

What: Christmas celebration

Where: Modesto Youth Center, 140 Calaveras Ave.
Info: Thanks4Giving, a local philanthropic group, will hold its annual Christmas celebration. The group, led by Joshua Williams, will distribute food baskets, coats and blankets to people in need, with contributions coming from local companies and individuals. 75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that Wallace Caswell of Ceres was elected president of the California Canning Peach Growers Association at the group’s annual meeting in Marysville. He succeeded Don Bull of Marysville. Also while at the meeting, newly elected manager W.J. Edinger of San Francisco stated peach prices may go up in 1941 but to look out for canners to recoup losses for 1940 at growers’ expense.
