Stanislaus mayors vie Saturday in Salvation Army benefit

Four mayors of Stanislaus County cities will help the Salvation Army on Saturday while earning bragging rights.

The third annual Mayoral Bell Ringing Competition will be held at red kettle locations in Modesto, Ceres, Riverbank and Turlock. The mayors and their assistants have a full day ahead of them, scheduled to be at their posts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh will be ringing his bell at the Wal-Mart at 3848 McHenry Ave.

Ceres Mayor Chris Vierra will be stationed at the Wal-Mart at 1670 Mitchell Road, and Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth will be at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at 2480 Geer Road.

In Riverbank, Mayor Richard O’Brien will be manning the kettle at the O’Brien’s Market at 6331 Oakdale Road.
