The storm that arrived Thursday night dropped 0.18 inches of rain on the downtown Modesto area between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Friday, according to Modesto Irrigation District measurements.

Modesto police said the wet roads didn’t contribute to any rise in serious vehicle crashes. There were some fender benders, and one driver was sent to a hospital for treatment after striking a utility pole and a parked car.

While there was no rain measured between 5 and 7 a.m., showers are likely in the Modesto area Friday morning, and possibly a thunderstorm before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

The Dodge Ridge ski resort’s snow report says snowfall that began Friday morning has added 12 to 16 inches from base to summit and still is coming down. “We'll have a brief pause this afternoon and Saturday,” it says, “before an additional 12 inches or more is forecast to fall on Dodge Ridge for Sunday.”

The Friday high temperature in Modesto should be near 58, the weather service says, with a northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

The forecast for Saturday is partly sunny, with a high near 52. But there’s a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday night and early Sunday.

Sunday should be rainy – an 80 percent chance – with a high near 57. Meteorologists say there will be a south-southeast wind of 6 to 11 mph, increasing to 13 to 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

Monday holds a 30 percent chance of showers, then the remainder of the seven-day forecast calls for mostly sunny days.
