Modesto man killed in crash on Patterson Road in Riverbank
A Modesto man was killed early Monday when he lost control of his vehicle on Patterson Road and struck a power pole.
At about 2:30 a.m., Shawn Callahan, who turned 26 on Sunday, was eastbound on Patterson Road/Highway 108 in a 2002 Nissan at about 50 mph, approaching the curve where Highway 108 becomes Callander Avenue. As he made a slight right turn to remain on Patterson Road, the California Highway Patrol reports, he drove over the raised concrete curb and lost control. The Nissan spun and hit the power pole on the driver’s side.
Callahan, who apparently was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It has not been determined, the CHP said, if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
