What: Quilt raffle
When: Through Dec. 15
Where: Knitters Square, 899 W. Roseburg Ave.
Info: Renee Rhoy, a longtime local resident, animal enthusiast and quilter, donated the quilt to Cat Network of Stanislaus. Raffle tickets are $1 or six for $5. They can be purchased at the store, or call 209-735-0604 or email info@catnetworkofstanislaus.org. All proceeds will benefit the spay and neuter program.
WATERFORD
What: Lighted Christmas parade
When: Saturday, 5:30 p.m.
Where: Beginning at Moon School, North Reinway and Pecan avenues, proceeding on Church Street, then to Bentley Street, and ending at Bentley and Tim Bell Road.
Info: There will be three announcers: at Yosemite and Bentley; at E Street and Bentley; and near D Street and Bentley. Mrs. Claus will be travel from the North Pole this year to join the parade.
DENAIR
What: Santa comes to Denair
When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Road Dog Cycle, Santa Fe Avenue and Main Street, Denair
Info: Santa will be taking pictures on his Harley. Pictures will be available for purchase or bring your own camera. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, as well as horse-drawn wagon rides around Denair. The event will benefit the Homeless Outreach Program of Denair’s CP Nazarene Church; organizers will be collecting canned/nonperishable food items and/or new toys as a donation. YESTERYEARS
100 YEARS AGO: Local businessman and photographer W.F. Bierhaus of 929 10th St. was having a sale on Christmas portraits. The ad said a person’s portrait would make a great Christmas gift. The special for the 7-by-11 portrait was good for two weeks and would only cost $1.
