Fans of autumn exercise gobbled up the goofy fun of the 16th annual Modesto Turkey Trot and Gobbler Walk on Thanksgiving morning. The Modesto Junior College cross country team organized the run at the Tuolumne River Regional Park. A half-mile boys race kicked off the festivities at 8:45 a.m., followed by a half-mile girls race, with all contestants taking home a medal. A 5-kilometer run followed with walkers bringing up the rear. Awards went to the top three male and female contenders in eight divisions. The slightly over 3-mile route followed a scenic and mostly paved path along the riverbank, passing through the park’s old oak groves.
